Dentist in Tonasket, WA
Robeck Dental treats patients from Tonasket at our office in Omak, 24 miles south on Highway 97. Dr. Troy Robeck, DDS, owns the practice and graduated from Tonasket High School in 2000. Cleanings, crowns, implants, and Invisalign all happen in the same building.
The drive takes about 30 minutes. This practice actually started in Tonasket, where Dr. Jerry Grillo opened it in 1965 before moving it to Omak. Call (509) 826-4050 to book a visit.
How far is Robeck Dental from Tonasket?
The office sits 24 miles from Tonasket at 739 Haussler Road in Omak. The drive south on Highway 97 runs about 30 minutes. Parking is free and on site, and we open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, closing Friday through Sunday.
Half an hour is a real drive, and it shapes how we schedule patients coming down from Tonasket. Nobody should make that trip twice for work that could have been finished in a single morning.
Plenty of Tonasket patients are perfectly happy with where they go now. The ones who drive down usually want a particular piece of equipment or a treatment they cannot get closer to home.
The practice started on your side of the valley
Dr. Jerry Grillo opened this practice in Tonasket in 1965. It moved to Omak in 1972, first across from the library, then to the Shellrock Professional Building near Mid Valley Hospital. Dr. Greg Grillo joined his father in 1999 after four years as a Navy dental officer. Dr. Jerry retired in 2010 after 48 years of treating Okanogan County patients.
Dr. Troy Robeck joined in 2012 and took over fully in 2022. He grew up in Okanogan County and finished at Tonasket High School in 2000. After dental school he spent two years at a community clinic in Alaska, then moved his family back home.
Rural practices change hands often, and patients get used to meeting a new dentist every few years. This one has changed hands twice in 60 years, and both times it stayed inside the valley.
What can you get done in a single trip?
Most of it, which is the whole point when you are driving 24 miles. Robeck Dental runs a CEREC milling unit that designs and cements a ceramic crown in one appointment. That means no temporary crown, and no second trip down Highway 97 two weeks later.
Dr. Robeck also places dental implants and restores them here in Omak. That keeps the full course of treatment local instead of sending you to Wenatchee or Spokane.
Here is what stays in house:
- Cleanings, exams, digital X-rays, sealants, and periodontal therapy
- Same day crowns milled on site with CEREC
- Dental implants in most cases, from placement through the final crown
- Bone grafting and sinus lifts to prepare a site for an implant
- Dentures, partials, and implant supported dentures
- Invisalign clear aligners, offered here since 2005
- Root canals on front teeth and bicuspids, plus fillings and extractions
- Whitening, veneers, and tooth colored fillings
- Oral sedation and nitrous oxide for anxious patients
Three things we send elsewhere, and you should know before you drive. We provide Invisalign but refer traditional braces to an orthodontist. We treat root canals on front teeth and bicuspids, and refer molar root canals to an endodontist. Dr. Robeck places most implants himself, though a small number of complex cases go to a surgeon.
We tell you which category you fall into at the exam, not after you have made the trip twice.
The people who will treat you
Dr. Troy Robeck, DDS, treats every patient at the practice. He graduated from the University of Washington School of Dentistry in 2010 with honors. He was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society. He also received the Washington State Dental Association Award for Student Leadership.
The team behind him has stayed put. Amy has assisted here since 1990. That is over three decades in the same office. Beth and Megan both hold dental hygiene degrees from Eastern Washington University. Amanda C. joined in 2010, and Kim has practiced hygiene since 2002.
If you went to Tonasket High School around the turn of the century, you may already know your dentist.
Do you take my insurance?
Robeck Dental is in network with Delta Dental. With other plans we are out of network, but we accept assignment of benefits and submit your claims for you. Most patients are still covered. One thing to settle before you drive 24 miles. We do not take Apple Health or state Medicaid, because Washington sends those plans to state dental clinics rather than private offices.
If Apple Health is your coverage, your dental benefit is assigned elsewhere and we cannot bill it. Check with your plan before you book. We would rather tell you now than have you drive 24 miles for nothing.
Pay up front and take 5 percent off
Cash or check at the time of service earns a 5 percent discount. There is no form to fill out and nothing to apply for. Diana, our financial coordinator, goes over the number with you before treatment starts.
Financing through Cherry
Cherry offers payment plans you can apply for online in a few minutes, before your appointment if you prefer. Diana will walk you through it if you would rather do it here. We accept CareCredit as well.
You get the cost before treatment, not after
We go over what your plan covers and what you owe before any work begins. Payment is due at the time of service. Nobody should learn what a crown costs from a bill that shows up three weeks later.
Why Tonasket patients make the drive
Thirty minutes each way is a real decision, so here is what patients tell us makes the trip worth the fuel.
A crown finished in one appointment
CEREC designs and mills your crown while you sit in the chair. One morning replaces two visits and two weeks. For a patient driving from Tonasket, that is roughly two hours of highway you never spend.
3D imaging for implants, TMJ, and airway
Our CBCT scanner takes a three dimensional image of your jaw. It shows bone depth and where the nerves sit. Dr. Robeck uses it to plan implants, check TMJ problems, and look at airway concerns tied to sleep apnea. Few offices this far into rural Washington have one.
Implants placed and restored under one roof
In most cases Dr. Robeck does the placement, the abutment, and the final crown himself. He received the Implant Student of the Year award at the University of Washington and belongs to the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. For someone already driving half an hour, that difference adds up fast.
Nearly 20 years of Invisalign cases
We have offered Invisalign since 2005. Our patients have ranged from age 14 to 70. Treatment starts with a digital scan, not a tray of goop. Aligner checks are quick, and we try to space them so you are not driving down every two weeks.
Se habla espanol
Dr. Robeck speaks Spanish. You do not need to bring someone along to interpret, and you do not need to wait for a scheduled interpreter slot to be seen.
Sedation for people who dread dental work
We offer both oral sedation and nitrous oxide. Plenty of our patients put off care for years before they finally came in, and that is common enough that we plan for it rather than treat it as unusual.
Planning the trip down Highway 97
Take Highway 97 south out of Tonasket and you reach Haussler Road in Omak in about 30 minutes, passing through Riverside on the way. The office has its own lot, so there is no street parking to hunt for and no meters to feed.
Bring your insurance card, a list of any medications you take, and the name of your last dentist. If you are anxious about dental work, mention it when you call rather than waiting until you are in the chair, because we can plan the appointment differently when we know in advance.
Morning appointments tend to suit Tonasket patients best. Leaving town at eight puts you in the chair by half past, which usually means you are home again before the afternoon.
What a first visit actually involves
A first appointment normally covers an exam, digital X-rays, and a cleaning with one of our hygienists. Dr. Robeck reviews the images with you on a screen in the room, using an intra-oral camera when it helps to show you what he is describing.
If treatment is needed, you leave with a written plan and a cost before anything gets scheduled. For patients driving from Tonasket, we will also tell you honestly which items could be handled by a closer office and which ones genuinely need the equipment we have here.

Questions Tonasket patients ask
Is it worth driving 24 miles to see a dentist?
That depends on what you need. For a routine cleaning, probably not, unless you already have family at the practice. For a crown, an implant, or Invisalign, the trip usually saves you visits rather than adding them. A same day crown turns two trips into one. Call (509) 826-4050 and describe what you need before you commit to the drive.
Can I get a crown in one day if I drive from Tonasket?
Usually, yes. Our CEREC unit designs and mills the crown during your visit. Plan for about two hours in the chair. Some cases still need a lab made crown, and Dr. Robeck will tell you at the exam if yours is one of them. We flag that early precisely because of the distance.
Apple Health and state insurance coverage
Robeck Dental does not take Apple Health or Medicaid. Washington assigns those plans to designated clinics rather than private practices, so your benefit is not usable here. Contact your plan to find where it is assigned. We are in network with Delta Dental and out of network with other plans, though we submit claims for you either way. Check your card before you assume.
What happens if I have a dental emergency?
Call (509) 826-4050 during office hours, Monday through Thursday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Tell whoever answers what happened and we will find room that day where we can. Half an hour is a long drive with an abscess, so call first and let us plan around it rather than arriving unannounced.
How is the drive from Tonasket in winter?
Highway 97 is a main route and gets plowed early. In most winter weather the drive still runs 30 to 40 minutes. If conditions are bad enough that you would rather stay home, call (509) 826-4050 and we will move your appointment. We would rather reschedule than have anyone drive that stretch on ice.
Do you do root canals on back teeth?
We treat root canals on front teeth and bicuspids. Molar root canals go to an endodontist, because those cases are more complex and better handled by someone who does them all day. If you are calling from Tonasket with a painful back tooth, say so on the phone and we will tell you straight away whether the appointment is with us or with a specialist.
