Dentist in Oroville, WA

Robeck Dental treats patients from Oroville at our office in Omak, 41 miles south on Highway 97. Dr. Troy Robeck, DDS, owns the practice and grew up in Okanogan County. Cleanings, crowns, implants, and Invisalign all happen in the same building, so most treatment stays in one place.

The drive takes about 50 minutes. That is the longest trip we ask of anyone in the valley, so we schedule Oroville patients with the distance in mind. Call (509) 826-4050 to book a visit.

How far is Robeck Dental from Oroville?

The office sits 41 miles from Oroville at 739 Haussler Road in Omak, and the drive south on Highway 97 runs roughly 50 minutes through Tonasket and Riverside. Parking is free and on site, and we open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, closing Friday through Sunday.

Fifty minutes each way is most of two hours behind the wheel for one appointment. We are honest about that. For a routine cleaning it is a lot of road, and there are closer options.

Patients who make the drive are usually after something specific. A crown finished in one visit, an implant placed and restored by the same dentist, or Invisalign from an office that has run it since 2005.

What can you get done in a single trip?

Most of it, which is the entire reason the drive makes sense. Robeck Dental runs a CEREC milling unit that designs and cements a ceramic crown in one appointment, so there is no temporary crown and no second 82 mile round trip two weeks later.

Dr. Robeck also places dental implants and restores them here in Omak, keeping the full course of treatment inside the valley rather than sending you to Wenatchee or Spokane.

Here is what stays in house:

Three things we send elsewhere, and you should know before you drive. We provide Invisalign but refer traditional braces to an orthodontist. We treat root canals on front teeth and bicuspids, and refer molar root canals to an endodontist. Dr. Robeck places most implants himself, though a small number of complex cases go to a surgeon.

We tell you which category you fall into at the exam, not after you have made the trip twice.

The people who will treat you

Dr. Troy Robeck, DDS, treats every patient at the practice. He graduated from the University of Washington School of Dentistry in 2010 with honors. He was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society. He also received the Washington State Dental Association Award for Student Leadership.

The team behind him has stayed put, which is unusual anywhere and rarer still in a rural office. Amy has assisted here since 1990, which is over three decades in the same building. Beth and Megan both hold dental hygiene degrees from Eastern Washington University. Amanda C. joined in 2010, and Kim has practiced hygiene since 2002.

Dr. Robeck grew up in this county and finished at Tonasket High School, about halfway between Oroville and the office. He knows the drive.

A practice that has been here since 1965

Dr. Jerry Grillo opened this practice in Tonasket in 1965, and it moved to Omak in 1972. Dr. Greg Grillo joined his father in 1999 after four years as a Navy dental officer, and Dr. Jerry retired in 2010 after 48 years of treating Okanogan County patients.

Dr. Troy Robeck joined in 2012 and took over fully in 2022. After dental school he spent two years at a community clinic in Alaska, then moved his family back to the county he grew up in.

Rural practices change hands often, and patients get used to meeting a new dentist every few years. This one has changed hands twice in 60 years, and both times it stayed inside the valley.

Do you take my insurance?

Robeck Dental is in network with Delta Dental. With other plans we are out of network, but we accept assignment of benefits and submit your claims for you. Most patients are still covered. One thing to settle before you drive 41 miles. We do not take Apple Health or state Medicaid, because Washington sends those plans to state dental clinics rather than private offices.

If Apple Health is your coverage, your dental benefit is assigned elsewhere and we cannot bill it. Check with your plan before you book. We would rather say so now than have you make an 82 mile round trip for nothing.

Pay up front and take 5 percent off

Cash or check at the time of service earns a 5 percent discount. There is no form to fill out and nothing to apply for. Diana, our financial coordinator, goes over the number with you before treatment starts.

Financing through Cherry

Cherry offers payment plans you can apply for online in a few minutes, before your appointment if you prefer. Diana will walk you through it if you would rather do it here. We accept CareCredit as well.

You get the cost before treatment, not after

We go over what your plan covers and what you owe before any work begins. Payment is due at the time of service. Nobody should learn what a crown costs from a bill that shows up three weeks later.

Why Oroville patients make the drive

Fifty minutes each way is a serious decision, so here is what patients tell us makes the trip worth it.

A crown finished in one appointment

CEREC designs and mills your crown while you sit in the chair. One morning replaces two visits and two weeks in a temporary. For someone driving from Oroville, that saves an entire 82 mile round trip.

3D imaging for implants, TMJ, and airway

Our CBCT scanner takes a three dimensional image of your jaw. It shows bone depth and where the nerves sit. Dr. Robeck uses it to plan implants, check TMJ problems, and look at airway concerns tied to sleep apnea. Few offices this far into rural Washington have one.

Implants placed and restored under one roof

In most cases Dr. Robeck does the placement, the abutment, and the final crown himself. He received the Implant Student of the Year award at the University of Washington and belongs to the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. That saves an Oroville patient two separate long journeys.

Nearly 20 years of Invisalign cases

We have offered Invisalign since 2005 and treated patients ranging from age 14 to 70. Treatment starts with a digital scan, not a tray of impression material. We space aligner checks as widely as the case allows so you are not driving down constantly.

Se habla espanol

Dr. Robeck speaks Spanish. You do not need to bring someone along to interpret, and you do not need to wait for a scheduled interpreter slot to be seen.

Sedation for people who dread dental work

We offer both oral sedation and nitrous oxide. Plenty of our patients put off care for years before they finally came in, and that is common enough that we plan for it rather than treat it as unusual.

Planning the trip down Highway 97

Take Highway 97 south out of Oroville and you follow the river down through Tonasket and Riverside before reaching Haussler Road in Omak, roughly 50 minutes in normal conditions. The office has its own lot, so there is no street parking to hunt for.

Bring your insurance card, a list of any medications you take, and the name of your last dentist. If you are anxious about dental work, mention it when you call rather than waiting until you are in the chair, because we can plan the appointment differently when we know in advance.

Morning appointments suit Oroville patients best. Leaving town at eight puts you in the chair by around nine, which usually gets you home by early afternoon.

What a first visit actually involves

A first appointment normally covers an exam, digital X-rays, and a cleaning with one of our hygienists. Dr. Robeck reviews the images with you on a screen in the room, using an intra-oral camera when it helps to show you what he is describing.

If treatment is needed, you leave with a written plan and a cost before anything gets scheduled. For patients driving from Oroville we go further than that. We will tell you plainly which items a closer office could handle and which ones genuinely need the equipment we have here, because at 41 miles the drive has to earn itself.

Questions Oroville patients ask

Is it worth driving 41 miles to see a dentist?

Honestly, it depends. For a routine cleaning, an office closer to home usually makes more sense, and we will say so. For a crown, an implant, or Invisalign, the trip often saves you appointments rather than adding them, because a same day crown turns two visits into one. Call (509) 826-4050 and describe what you need before committing to the drive.

Usually, yes. Our CEREC unit designs and mills the crown during your visit, so plan for about two hours in the chair. Some cases still need a lab made crown, and Dr. Robeck will tell you at the exam if yours is one of them. We flag that early precisely because of the distance involved.

Robeck Dental does not take Apple Health or Medicaid. Washington assigns those plans to designated clinics rather than private practices, so the benefit is not usable here. Contact your plan to find where yours is assigned. We are in network with Delta Dental and out of network with other plans, though we submit claims for you either way, so check your card before you assume.

Call (509) 826-4050 during office hours, Monday through Thursday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Tell whoever answers what happened and we will find room that day where we can. Fifty minutes is a long way to drive with an abscess, so call before you set off and let us plan around it.

Highway 97 is a main route and gets plowed early, so in most winter weather the drive still runs 50 to 65 minutes. If conditions are bad enough that you would rather stay home, call (509) 826-4050 and we will move your appointment. We would rather reschedule than have anyone drive 41 miles of river road on ice.

We treat root canals on front teeth and bicuspids. Molar root canals go to an endodontist, because those cases are more complex and better handled by someone who does them all day. If you are calling from Oroville with a painful back tooth, say so on the phone and we will tell you straight away whether the appointment is with us or with a specialist.
